Gawd, it was
HOT yesterday...
And so much has happened in the past 2 days:

Sunday
We arrived a bit late for my 2nd cousin's wedding reception, but we made it.

We sat on the same table as the groom's father, stepmother, 2 aunts, grandfather, and stepgrandmother (or my father's cousin and his wife, his 2 other cousins, his uncle, and his aunt), so we got a nice view of the head table where my 2nd cousin, his bride, and their close friends sat.
The food was really good: a small salad was first, followed by mash potatos, tender grilled chicken, and steamed green beans and carrot strips, and finally the wedding cake (which came in 2 flavors: carrot-spice or vanilla-chocolate marbled).
There was a photo slide show, we got to talk with the bride and groom (their 3-year-old daughter was out with the ringbearer, so we didn't really see her. XD What ever happened to "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage" these days?), and there was dancing (even though my mother, brother, and I never danced; my father was dragged by his older cousin onto the dancefloor so he had no choice XD ).
I didn't drink any alcohol even though I legally can (ja, if you didn't know, I'm 21 years old - I'm ancient

), and no drunk guys were hitting on me or anything so that was good.

I didn't catch the bouquet even though I was there with my one of my father's cousins (the bridesmaids were clawing each other for it, but the tallest girl in the front was the one who caught the bouquet. XD Surprisingly, there weren't that many single girls out there either - probably only about 10-15 out of an aproximately 100 people in the room [there were just as many single guys in there, if not more]. Also, most of the girls, including myself, were just as tall or taller than most of the single guys in there so that was a bit of a funny sight. XD
But being there with my father's side of the family (well, specifically his father's side of the family, the German-Irish part of my ancestry) made me realize how I'm so much like like them - not just physically , but attitude-wise and personality-wise as well (I always get a lot of people telling me that they though that I was White/German even though I'm half Filipina - I really don't have much of anything of my mother in me... well, maybe a bit of her temper and determination, but that'd explain why we seem to clash heads all the time XD ). I can see where I got my aloofness (my father), my seriousness (my grandfather, but his first of 2 younger brothers also shows this trait [this is also the great-uncle who survived the death march of Bataan and was a POW during WW2]), and both my ability to adapt and stand away from comformity (my father's oldest cousin, who's seems to be the black sheep of the family for all of the rebelious things she'd done... nor does she even look over 50 - just like I don't look like I'm in my 20's XD ). And cursing...

I'm soo guilty of cursing a lot when I get irritated and pissed off (yes, even sweet 'innocent' Anna-Chan is capable of saying the f-word, "damnit," and "Scheiüße." I overheard that Vests are well-known to curse a lot when angered XD )
So ja... that's why my father would point out how much I look just exactly like my Irish greatgrandmother when she was young, and why I'm so 'cursed' with everything German (and for a while I thought I was turning Japanese XD ).

Monday (Yesterday)
Well, at 13:00, I started driving lessons again (yay

), so that was interesting... I don't know why, but other cars on the road just creep me out a lot when I'm driving even though they're not going to 'harm' me - hopefully I'll be less mindful of them on the next lesson. XD
With the exception of my 2nd cousin, his wife, and their daughter, my father's relatives (uncle, aunt, and his 3 cousins) came over to our house later in the afternoon for a visit. My mother had prepared a lot of food, especially her lumpia and strawberry-whipped cream angelfood cake, so everyone stuffed themselves full. They had also brought their cameras to show off photos and video of the wedding and other past events, so that was interesting... I was able to show off artwork I've done in Art class last semester (I didn't think my recent
APH pics wouldn't be appropriate to show off to my great-uncle... well, maybe Germany but definitely not Japan because he was captured by the Japanese).
So that's practically everything exciting so far...
Now it's just thinking up of stuff to draw, driving lessons, and figuring out what classes to take (I hope I'll be able to sign up for Intermediate Drawing and Painting I because there's only one of each class; I also plan on taking Multimedia, 2D Animation, and Digital Art if I can).
Hope you're having a great summer so far.

Tschüß 'til next time.

but i don't like the nazi flag >
I don't think anyone really likes the Nazi flag either (it's only placed there for historical and artistic purposes). It probably wouldn't be any different if I had placed an Iron Cross instead (I got a bit of people muttering "Nazi" behind my back just wearing Iron Cross earrings - but is it still not being used by a symobol of the German military?)
And speaking of symbols, the swastika was originally a Buddhist symbol of peace and prosperity until the Nazis litterally and figuratively inverted it (it's no different to what happened to the sign of the cross used in Christianity - it started out as a Roman symbol of terror and torture and now it's considered to be a holy relic); symbols will always be defined in whatever way they are used by people over time.
Plus WW2 is done and over with, so what's past is past despite how painful it was - we can only look back and learn from it.

Sgt. Whitman: You're wasting our time, there's nothing on this island but sheep and rocks!
[moments later the soldiers find a large Nazi encampment in the ruins]
Young 'Broom': They must be here for the sheep.
